Events Coordinator
20 hours per week
The Elk Rapids Area Chamber of Commerce is seeking an energetic and organized part-time, seasonal employee to support the Chamber's special events and community development efforts. This position is responsible for assisting the Chamber team in planning and coordinating summer events, including Evenings on River Street, Arts & Crafts Shows and the weekly Elk Rapids Farmers Market. This position is considered seasonal, with the opportunity for year-round employment.
Event Responsibilities:
- Assist in all aspects of planning and execution of Chamber events, which includes
- Craft Shows
- Farmer’s Market
- Wednesday Evening on River Street (Downtown Elk Rapids)
- Golf Outing
- Annual Dinner Celebration
- Process vendor applications and registration
- Manage event vendors and coordinate vendor booth assignments
- Assist with setup and breakdown of events
- Transport necessary items to and from the Chamber to event locations
- Assist with the operations of the Visitor Center including office management, member support, and provide tourist assistance (directions, information, maps, etc.)
- Answer phones as needed - direct calls, answer questions
- Prior event planning experience a plus
- Social media skills (Facebook, Instagram)
- Work some evenings and weekends during planned events
- Transportation and ability to drive to local event locations
- Physical requirements – ability to perform assigned duties which may include siting, standing or walking for extended periods of time, moving tables and chairs and lifting heavy or cumbersome objects.
