This is going to be a really unique evening.

Traverse City author, singer-songwriter, and storyteller Robert Downes brings his multimedia Stories & Songs performance to The Platform for a special fundraising event benefiting the Chalfonte Theatre Capital Campaign.

Blending live music, storytelling, photography, projected visuals, literature, travel, and history, the evening feels somewhere between a concert, a theatrical cabaret, and a spoken-word journey.

Downes will be joined by percussionist Mark Cantrell.

Last fall, the show debuted to an overflow audience at the Traverse City Opera House, and I think audiences here are going to love it. It’s thoughtful, moving, funny, adventurous, and unlike anything else we’ve hosted this season.

A suggested donation of $10 is encouraged, with all proceeds supporting our capital campaign to preserve and strengthen the historic home of the Elk Rapids Cinema, Village Radio, and The Platform.
