This class is non-refundable.
Canoeing skills class (not instructor certification) focusing on efficient and safe paddling to prepare for journeys in protected waters. Bow and stern forward stokes and maneuvering strokes as well as general paddling safety including deep water rescues will be covered. Learn how to gracefully paddle a canoe and great way to prepare for that canoe camping trip to the Boundary Waters! This is a great class for those new to canoeing or those who have had no formal instruction.
Participants must be at least 14 years old and meet the ACA eligibility requirements (http://www.americancanoe.org/default.asp?page=EEC).
– Canoe Paddle
– Vest-styled pfd (life jacket)
– Clothes that can get wet, rescues will require getting wet – polypropylene, polyester, coolmax, etc….anything but cotton!
– Fleece Jacket or pullover (in case it gets cool)
– Paddling Jacket or raincoat if they day looks breezy
– Water shoes or neoprene boots
– Dry clothes to change into
– One-liter plastic water bottle
– Lunch/snacks
– Sunscreen
