FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

October 9, 2024

Elk Rapids, MI – Paddle Antrim is excited to announce that applications are now open for the 2024 Ripple Effect Mini Grant Program. This competitive grant program funds projects that protect local waterways and connect people to them. Eligible projects must focus on stewardship, education, or increasing accessibility to lakes and rivers.

Since 2015, Paddle Antrim has awarded over $35,000 to 35 projects. To be considered, projects must focus on the Elk River Chain of Lakes watershed or adjacent watersheds that impact Antrim County. Eligible applicants include Michigan-based nonprofit organizations or governmental entities.

Past projects include the installation of a rain garden in Ellsworth, the design and installation of new interpretive panels for the Grass River Natural Area’s Nature Center, and funding for the first universal-access kayak launch on The Chain of Lakes Water Trail at Milton Township Waterfront Park. A full list of projects funded by this Mini Grant Program is available at www.paddleantrim.com/completed-projects.

“These modest but impactful grants are funded through income from our events and classes held throughout the paddling season,” said Deana Jerdee, Paddle Antrim Executive Director. “Through this program, we’ve been able to extend our efforts in protecting our waterways by supporting projects that have made a significant positive impact on our watershed. We’re excited to see what this year’s applicants bring forward.”

Applications must be submitted by 5:00 PM on November 1, 2024, to be considered. Final decisions will be announced in December. For more information and to apply, visit paddleantrim.com/ripple-effect-mini-grants.
