ELK RAPIDS, MI—Great Lakes Cottage Watch has earned accreditation for its Home Watch services from the National Home Watch Association. The NHWA was formed in 2009 in order to establish and maintain the highest industry standards for Home Watch and absentee homeowner services throughout the United States and Canada (https://nationalhomewatchassociation.org/). Home Watch is a visual inspection of a home or property, looking for obvious issues, which means that it is a service that “keeps an eye on things” at your vacation or primary home while you are not in residence. All principals of NHWA Accredited Member companies are background-checked, insured, and bonded.
Doug VanCura is a founding partner of Great Lakes Cottage Watch, a home services company specializing in Home Watch, home management, and concierge care for remotely owned or part-time residences. Doug started the home services company because of a personal need to find a trusted service provider to manage a vacation home in Michigan, before moving there and being unsuccessful.
Before establishing his company, Doug was a telecommunications professional and executive specializing in both engineering and customer service for many years. He is also a certified home inspector, a member of Rotary International in Elk Rapids, Michigan, and has served as the chairman of the Elk Rapids Downtown Development Authority. As a strong advocate for protecting the local area's beauty, Doug is a member/sponsor of the Torch Lake Protection Alliance and the Elk-Skegemog Lakes Association.
Great Lakes Cottage Watch serves the Northwestern Michigan Counties of Antrim, Grand Traverse, Leelanau, Charlevoix, and the City of Petoskey. Doug can be reached at (231) 498-2158 or info@glcottagewatch.com. Visit his website for more information at https://glcottagewatch.com.
