Purpose: Responsible for dining room set up for meal presentation, delivery of meals to residents, cleaning of dishes, glassware & flatware in work area.
Essential Functions- Job Duties: The following duties are considered essential to the job. Qualified individuals must have the ability, with or without reasonable accommodation, to perform the following duties:
- Working with coworkers in a team environment promoting quality service, positive communication, and respect of residents.
- Assists coworkers in preparation of food in accordance with directions and standards.
- Assists in tray assembly according to dietary requirements.
- Serves food and drinks to residents.
- Assists residents with food consumption when needed (i.e. cutting food, buttering bread, pouring beverages, delivering trays to tables etc...).
- Remove dirty dishes from the dining room and cleans tables/areas. Scrapes dishes, loads and operates dishwasher, and washes/scrubs pots and pans as needed.
- Perform cleaning tasks including sweeping, mopping, cleaning surfaces, and vacuuming to maintain safe and sanitary work area.
- Make sure any unused food items are covered, labeled, dated, and stored in the refrigerator/freezer.
- Restock prep and service areas as needed to maintain an organized work area.
- Performs additional tasks necessary as directed by the Executive Chef, Cook, or designated person in charge.
- Promotes and encourages individualized resident independence while maintaining resident dignity, individuality, confidentiality and following infection control policies.
- Transports food carts to and from dining areas.
- Prepares and gathers nourishments according to the standards and delivers to dining areas.
- Assists in preparation and service of catering and special dining events.
- Attend and participate in staff meetings, projects, special events, committees, and mandatory training as appropriate. Completes competency evaluations for training as required by the state or as assigned by their immediate supervisor, Executive Chef, HR Director, or Executive Director.
- Follow all applicable state regulations.
- Minimum of 1 year experience
- Ability to read, write, and speak the English language fluently
- Ability to lift fifty (50) pounds and move lifted items three (3) to four (4) feet
- Ability to stand for extended periods of time and bend, stoop and reach frequently
- Knowledge of kitchen safety practices and accident prevention
- Knowledge of basic sanitation, food preparation, and the maintenance of kitchen and food service areas
- High School Diploma or equivalent is preferred
- Experience working in a healthcare setting preferred
