The Elk Rapids Indigenous Youth Initiative invites the public to its first Winter Snow Snake event at Glowicki Field, weather permitting. Snow Snake is a traditional Native American game in which carved wood snakes, two to six feet in length, are thrown for distance down a smooth track of snow. Hot dogs, chili, hot cocoa, and coffee will be provided.
The ERIYI provies educational, hands-on experiences where students learn the importance of preserving culture, building positive relationships, sustainable living, and taking care of the environment.
