The Balance of Light and Dark

The publication of The Balance of Light and Dark by J.S., will be celebrated at the Elk Rapids District Library on Friday, June 15th at 6:30 p.m. Jasmine Scroggins, or J.S., as she is known on her popular Tumblr account, will read her poems in an After Hours: Meet the Young Writer event. J.S. is a seventeen year old poet from Northern Michigan. The thing that makes her writing unique is that the point is not to tell a story, but to understand the defining moments and feelings in one's life. To understand the world she and others have been thrown into. She writes in an almost desperate manner as if to say, "It's now. The time to learn, the time to love, it's now. Nothing waits, so reach out for it before it's too late." The library will open at 6:30 for light refreshments and the poetry will commence at 7 p.m. Please call the library at (231)264-9979 for more information.
