Description
On October 23, 2017 at 6:00 p.m. the residents of Elk Rapids have a privileged opportunity. As a resident, you are able to voice your opinion at a Special Council Meeting concerning the expansion of the Island House. On October 2, 2017, the tri-township Elk Rapids District Library board requested the Village residents’ permission to expand the building and presented plans to the Village Council. This expansion is not at the expense of Village Taxpayers. What makes this opportunity unique is the building and property is owned by you, the Village Residents, and your opinion matters on whether you would like to see the expansion or not. The District Library Board leases the building from the Village for one dollar a year.
We are asking that you go to the Elk Rapids District Library website (elkrapidslibrary.org) or the Village web site (elkrapids.org), look at the architect plans, and let us know what you think at the public hearing. Additional information on the Island House and property can be found on Facebook (Preserve-our-Island-House-and-Property). If you are unable to attend the meeting, please mail or email Village Manager William Cooper at vllg398@elkrapids.org if you support, oppose or are indifferent to expansion of the Island House. Your written comments will be accepted until 5:00 p.m. on October 23, 2017.
This meeting is your chance to let the Village Council know what you think about your property. – Submitted by James Janisse, Village President.
