The Salvation Army of Petoskey is getting ready for their 2016 Red Kettle Kick-off which will be held at Oleson’s Food Store at 2000 US 131 in Petoskey, MI from 11 AM- 1 PM on Friday, November 11, 2016. Red Kettle Chairman, David Meyer of Meyer Ace Hardware, urges residents to come out and support local families in need. Santa will be there for pictures along with cookies, cider and 102.9 Big Country Hits.
The Red Kettle Kick-off marks the beginning of the bell-ringing season for The Salvation Army. All of the money raised stays local and makes a huge impact on the lives of many hard working families who are struggling to make ends meet by providing them many essential needs. Without assistance, many families will have to choose between having food for their children, staying warm, and having a roof over their head.
The Salvation Army also provides holiday assistance to low-income individuals and families. Food vouchers are given for Thanksgiving and Christmas meals and toys are given to children ages 16 and under who might otherwise not receive any gifts.
Envoy Greg Irwin says "We’ll be sure to find toys and warm clothes for those who would otherwise go without. What’s Christmas to a child without at least one special gift? We are committed to making sure the joy of Christmas is felt by as many families as possible this year and to do that we need your help."
This season’s Red Kettle Campaign goal is to raise at least $70,000 which represents a large percentage of the money we need to distribute through our Emergency Financial Assistance Programs that help folks not only at during the holiday season but all year long. A cold winter is expected and through your generosity we are able to provide assistance with food, heat, electricity, shelter, and so much more to families and children desperately in need of a little help.
