Description
Neal Newsom has been a leader in the Texas grape and wine industry for over 35 years. His grape growing prowess has led to long-term relationships with a number of wineries that source his grapes and recognize Newsom Vineyards on their labels. In the mid-2000’s, Neal and his family started their own label and now have two tasting rooms, one in Comfort, TX and one in Tomball, TX near Houston. Newsom Grape Day has been held since 1986 and is a larger-than-life event each April that draws growers, wineries, and industry professionals from all over Texas and the country!
Texas has approximately 4,500 acres of grapes and 500+ wineries, ranking it # 5 in wine production in the US and #3 in economic impact ($13.1 Billion). Some 45 varieties of wine grapes are grown in Texas. The High Plains of West Texas is at an elevation of 3,000–4,000 feet, and the climate of this appellation is very dry. The Texas High Plains AVA encompasses over 8 million acres and grows over 80% of Texas’ wine grapes.
You are invited to join Neal and Janice Newsom at Cairn House for this exclusive event to taste and learn about Texas wines sourced from Newsom Vineyards.
