Description
Come one, come all to GTRLC’s annual Maple Sugaring Day at the Maple Bay Farm! This year’s fun is tentatively scheduled for Saturday, March 22nd. Due to the extreme weather fluctuations we’ve been experiencing, this event date is subject to change. We need multiple consecutive days of the right weather conditions to collect enough sap. Please check our website calendar to confirm the final event date! This family-friendly event allows participants to learn about every step of the maple sugaring process, from tapping the trees and boiling the sap down to maple syrup to tasting the finished product. All of this will take place at the beautiful Maple Bay farm, which boasts its own charming red sugar shack used just for this occasion. The Basics Participants can “choose their adventure” at the event. Staff and volunteers stationed in the sugar bush, cellar, and sugar shack will demonstrate the sugaring process, showing how sap is transformed into delicious maple syrup! What should I bring? Dress for the weather! Full winter attire is recommended as Maple Bay is regularly cold and windy. Sturdy, close-toed shoes that can handle some mud Bring a reusable water bottle and some snacks if desired Directions: Please meet us at the Maple Bay Farm, located at 10849 US-31, Williamsburg, MI 49690. Registration is required. Cancellations due to weather, or any other reason will be communicated with registered participants via email.
