Beery, who works as the managing editor for Guiding Light Women's Fiction (an imprint of Lighthouse Publishing of the Carolinas) and owns Write Now Editing, released her debut novel this past September. Summer Plans and Other Disasters is a contemporary Christian romance set at Old Mission lighthouse in Traverse City. Beery is thrilled that her first two book events will be held in the city that inspired her story.
"There's so much to love about living in northern Michigan that I had to set my novel here," she said. "Between the beaches, the culture, and the events, there's an endless supply of inspiration for a novelist. I chose to set my story at the Old Mission lighthouse because of my experiences there, but readers will recognize other local events and locations that I included in the novel."
Just in time for the holidays, Beery will be signing books and meeting readers downtown Traverse City and at the Grand Traverse Mall. "I love that I was able to use Traverse City as the setting of my story, then schedule these events here. It seems fitting, and I can't wait to talk with readers and other writers."
Beery will be at Horizon Books, 243 E. Front Street, Traverse City, on Saturday, November 24 from 10 a.m. – 12 p.m. Her second book signing is at Bookbrokers and Kramer's Café, located in the Grand Traverse Mall, on Saturday, December 15 from 2–4 p.m. Both events are free and family friendly.
