Description
Learn to knit a cozy cowl! This class is for advanced beginner and intermediate knitters and includes two patterns so you can choose your difficulty level. Both patterns are fully reversible and knit in a heavy weight worsted yarn - perfect for a quick project!
The course will be a series of three
Friday afternoons from 2-4 pm, on January 3, 10 and 17
in the lovely Cottage Gallery at Twisted Fish.
For this class, you must know how to knit and purl. For advanced beginners, the Ridges Cowl will be a relatively uncomplicated and satisfying knit in the round. For intermediate knitters, the Cocoon Cowl is a slightly more complicated knit which will provide the opportunity to learn a provisional cast-on, an interesting stitch pattern with a chart and how to graft stitches together. See pictures of the finished projects below!
Please purchase and bring supplies with you to class.
Ridges Cowl: size 9 (5.5 mm) circular knitting needle, 24- 32 in long; 200 grams of heavy worsted weight yarn (ideally that can be knit at a 4 sts/in gauge, but 4.5 sts/in will work as well). Recommended yarns include: Malabrigo Worsted and Knit Picks City Tweed Aran/HW. Many people love a yarn that has some alpaca content for this project.
Cocoon Cowl: size 9 (5.5 mm) circular knitting needle (length does not matter as this project is knit flat); 2 skeins of either of the following yarns: Blue Sky Fibers - Hand Dyes Worsted (alpaca/merino) or Juniper Moon Farm - Fourteen (merino/cashmere).
The class is complementary but registration is required and space is limited. Please contact the gallery at 231.264.0123 to reserve your spot.
