For Immediate Release: October 8, 2020 Contact: Rick Bellingham The Elk Rapids Coalition for the Possible is pleased to announce two events that will both inform and entertain in a positive and humorous way as well as involve our youth in community advocacy.
On Thursday, October 22 at 7:00pm, the coalition will host Author Doug Griffiths, who wrote the best-selling book “13 Ways to Kill a Community”, on a Zoom call available to all community members. Doug has a long-time passion for helping rural communities find ways to be prosperous and enduring. His book is filled with stories of challenges and solutions. He is considered by many to be a community therapist.
On Tuesday, October 27th at 7:00pm, several youths will participate in a focus group conducted by Rebecca Bellingham (www.rebeccabellingham.com) to discuss 13 ways the build a healthy community. This podcast will be available in early November.
Who are they: Doug Griffiths is CEO and President of 13 Ways Inc, a consulting firm based in Alberta, Canada. He is a best-selling author and highly sought-after speaker and “community therapist”. He understands that change is difficult for some and has dedicated his life to helping build stronger communities.
The Coalition of the Possible is a group of committed individuals, working together to improve civility, communication, and collaboration among the citizens of our community. We are dedicated to creating more positive partnerships through workshops and events that increase awareness about how we interact. We believe that many have lost sight of how to disagree effectively and come to a solution that is best for all. We can either destroy or strengthen each other with our communication. The press that Elk Rapids has received in the last few years is an unfortunate record of our incivility and inability to embrace the possibilities.
