“Get Back with Switchback” to perform at the HERTH
Brian FitzGerald and Martin McCormack of the duo Switchback have been playing their brand of eclectic Celtic and Americana music at sold-out concert halls, performing arts centers, and festivals around the world for over twenty-five years. Switchback concerts feature a mix of Irish music and original songs from their catalog of over 400 tunes which have been described as “breathtaking scenery for your ears.” Their July 15 Elk Rapids “Get Back with Switchback” Concert, held at the Historic Elk Rapids Town Hall (The HERTH), will feature many of their favorite songs, along with bonus Beatles tunes for a unique musical performance. Seating is limited for this special summer appearance. Tickets are available at Oryana’s 10th St. location in Traverse City, Elk Rapids River St. Market, and Corner Drug. Tickets are also available online at Brown Paper Tickets. Tickets are $20 in advance and $25 at the door, with doors open at 6:00 p.m. and concert starting at 7:00 p.m. The beautifully restored Town Hall is located at 401 River St. in Elk Rapids, with air-conditioned comfort and easy handicap access.
"Historic Elk Rapids Town Hall has been one of those venues where everything always clicks: the audience, the energy of the evening and the acoustics of the building itself,” states Switchback’s Marty MacCormick. “Our show is going to be one of those evenings. a musical experience that if you were there, you'll talk about it for years. And if you miss, it'll be one of those shows you hear others talking about and wish you had attended."
Proceeds of the concert will benefit the Historic Elk Rapids Town Hall Association’s ongoing efforts to replace the venue’s aging historic arched windows and continue funding for other activities. We hope you and your loved ones can attend this special performance which American Songwriter Magazine (along with Americana icon Steve Earle) praised Switchback as one of the seminal groups to blend American roots and traditional Celtic styles. Switchback’s hybrid has an energy and joyous abandon that Matt Malloy of The Chieftains proclaimed “powerful!” As the creator of the National Poetry Slam, author Marc Smith said, “Switchback hits an everybody note.”
