Newton’s Road is partnering with Northwest Michigan High School programs to create a platform for students with an interest in STEM and entrepreneurship to learn and apply related skills. Students are using the engineering process to ideate, design, prototype, and pitch an invention that solves or improves a problem of their choosing. Local entrepreneur experts mentor the students, especially during the pitch development stage. Each school will select up to two student teams to represent them at this Finale event. Come cheer on these student stars as they pitch their inventions on the TC NewTech stage during Northern Michigan STARTUP Week to judges and the public!
The judging panel will review all of the student work products (engineering log, prototype, presentation) prior to the live pitches, will ask questions of each team after their 5-minute pitch and then determine the winners. Cash prizes will go to their school programs.
Our goals are to:
- Develop and practice creativity and collaboration skills
- Grow strength in problem solving, empathy, and failure as a learning opportunity
- Build a pipeline of entrepreneurs and startups
