Sitting is the new smoking, according to many researchers and health care providers. In today’s sedentary world, simply getting up and moving can improve your health, and the Elk Rapids Women want to help others learn how to move well for optimum health. On Thursday, February 7, the Elk Rapids Women will host Mindful Movements at InMotion Chiropractic & Exercise in Williamsburg. Angie Keas, DC, owner of InMotion, said, “The biggest misconception is the lack of value that we place on being able to move because we live in a world that doesn’t really need to move to survive. I disagree with that sentiment. My mantra is: life is motion; motion is life.” Mindful moving is when people feel and think about the muscles required for different motions. The class is appropriate for all activity levels, from those who sit at a desk all day to active runners, as it can be modified to benefit every person. “It’s important to connect with and listen to your body,” Keas said. “When we take the time to focus on our health, our bodies will tell us many things that we miss in the typical hustle and bustle. Movement is fun, and it’s more fun to do it together. I can’t wait to share this movement class with the Elk Rapids Women.” Mindful Movements will be held Thursday, February 7 at 6 p.m. at InMotion Chiropractic & Exercise, 4472 Mt. Hope Road, Suite B, Williamsburg. The cost is $5 to attend. Athletic shoes and clothing are recommended. If you have a balance ball, please bring it with you. Space is limited, so RSVP elkrapidswomen@gmail.com by February 4 to reserve your spot. *** Originally founded in 1945 as part of the Business and Professional
