Food Service Director / Shift Leaders

YMCA Hayo-Went-Ha Camps operates two summer camp kitchens, one near Bellaire and the other just south of Traverse City between Mid May - mid-August.

We are seeking motivated, responsible, and experienced Food Service Director / Shift Leaders to help manage our food service. 

Successful applicants will be working closely with the head cook, preparing, serving, and managing staff for up to 3 - 6 days a week. (Prefer 6 days but can be flexible) 

Competitive salary based on experience.

THIS IS A HANDS-ON, PRODUCTION POSITION

The position requires the ability to facilitate the duties and responsibilities of creating, implementing, and maintaining the foodservice needs for the Camp's Food Service Program, providing the camp with clean, comfortable surroundings, ensuring correct timing, quantity, and that the quality is accurately provided for all meal periods and special requests.

This position requires an outgoing personality, a sense of urgency, and a willingness to engage with both staff and campers for all the food service needs for the summer season.

  • Attend related in-service training and staff meetings as required

  • Ensures that production is accurate in timing, quantity, and quality

  • Supervises food service staff
