SUMMARY:The Composition of Habitat: Ecological Sentinels as Art
DESCRIPTION:"The Composition of Habitat: Ecological Sentinels as Art"\n\n Join us for a special Opening Reception and Artist Talk featuring the talented local fine artist Dana Falconberry\, who has created a series of gorgeous original artworks inspired by in-depth conversations with GTRLC land stewards and time spent hiking The Ridge. Each piece\, created for this year's GTRLC Artist Collaboration Series\, captures the beauty and significance of our region's native flora\, habitats and critical protected lands.\n\n \n\nAn acclaimed visual artist and musician who divides her time between northern Michigan and West Texas\, Dana Falconberry works primarily in acrylics and chainstitch embroidery\, combining the two into ethereal landscapes that center the experience of native wildlife. All of her work draws on the natural world\, sometimes including fantastical elements\, in order to "hint at the many magics of this world we humans have yet to understand."\n\n \n\nPlease join us at the McMullen Family Conservation Center on Wednesday\, August 26 at 5:30 p.m. for a mix-and-mingle reception\, artwork unveiling and artist talk with guest host Dana Black. This opening will be the first opportunity to view and purchase original artwork\, prints and other merchandise highlighting our mission.
