DESCRIPTION:An Introduction to Blacksmithing class will be presented by Historic Samels Farm volunteer Ted Ewald at the Farm Blacksmith Shop located at 8298 Skegemog Point Rd.\, Williamsburg\, MI 49690. \n\n \n\nThe objective of this program will be to introduce basic skills of blacksmithing and provide an early 1900s view of a blacksmith shop. The following topics will be discussed and demonstrated\, Safety\, Project Planning\, Fire Building\, Heating Steel\, Shaping Techniques\, Bending Techniques\, Twisting Techniques\, Cutting Techniques\, and High Carbon Steel Heat Treating Techniques. This will be a "hands-on" program and all attendees will go home with a hand-forged item that they create. Please bring safety glasses\, older work clothes\, and sensible shoes.
