DESCRIPTION:Native Michigan Wildflowers\, hot to locate them and how they can enhance our shorelines and gardens.\n\nAngie Lucas is a Senior Land Steward at the GTRLC where she has worked on biological inventories\, trail design\, and preserve management\, including large scale habitat restoration projects at Arcadia Marsh and Arcadia Dunes.  Angie grew up in northern lower Michigan on a 6th generation dairy farm which instilled her with a love of the native woodland plants which surrounded the farm fields.  She graduated from Northern Michigan University and began searching for orchids during her days as a vegetation science technician with Pictured Rocks National Lakeshore in 2006.   After vegetation monitoring in California at Pinnacles National Monument\, she returned to the Upper Peninsula and coordinated a native plant greenhouse program for the US Forest Service and an outdoor education center.  She has been at GTRLC since 2009 and is currently working on many projects\, including coordinating an orchid restoration project as part of the North American Orchid Conservation Center/ Smithsonian project and hopes to help continue spreading the word about this incredible plant family and the challenges and opportunities it faces.
